For EF Educational Tours and in partnership with Bletchley Park, Five Six Three designed and installed an immersive exhibit that took the visitors into the world of what life was like as a teenager in the 1940s during wartime in Britain. We built five sets that depicted different areas of life and produced an activity in each area for the visitors to complete.
Bletchley Park was the principal centre of Allied code breaking during the Second World War and is now a heritage site designed to preserve the story of these Code breakers. Upon Arrival the travellers started their experience by participating in a decoding activity.
Following that, the students entered into a typical vintage UK street set where a speaker dressed in 1940s clothing, accompanied by a gramophone DJ, would welcome the students and introduce them to the realities of teenage life during wartime in Britain. We built the immersive sets representing four areas of life: a typical living room setting depicting Home Life, a classroom with a teacher taking the students through an interactive classroom experience for School Life, a railroad platform and a journey to the country side to represent Displacement, and a cinema filled with film memorabilia, swing music and professional swing dancers to represent Music and Entertainment of the times.
The exhibit included:
- Experiential Stations
- Activity books
