Five Six Three organized the events related to the commemoration and celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, to honour the contributions and sacrifices of all parties involved. The event provided unique opportunities to learn about this significant moment in history, by enhancing exhibits and content to provide context, build empathy, perspective and understanding of the events that led to and occurred on D-Day.
For D-Day 75, educators, students, and staff members were able to:
- Experience the history of World War II.
- Participate in the official 75th anniversary ceremony with world leaders at the Normandy American Cemetery in Coleville-Sur-Mer.
- Participate in exclusive activities at Utah Beach and the Utah Beach Museum, while interacting with Veterans, experts, local community members, historians, and current service members, informally and via curated content -both scheduled and on a loop- and activities designed to bring static displays to life.
- Build a legacy art installation at the Utah Beach Museum, which would remain in Normandy as a symbol of commitment to commemorate the past and never forget history.
- Interact with Augmented Reality programming at Utah Beach to observe what it was like 75 years ago to land on D-Day as an Allied soldier, through firsthand accounts of a D-Day Veteran.
- Interact with primary sources and artifacts at Utah Beach.
